Château La Curnière and its wine tradition have existed for a very long time: The château, or “bastide,” is mentioned in an 18th century document of Cassini. Evidence of an even older history is found in the presence of two stone ponds inherited from the Knights Templar of the Middle Ages.

Everything on the estate seemed to have slumbered for years … until Béatrice and Victor Bonifaci discovered it in recent years. In it they found a domaine with a heart and a soul, the imprint of the previous generations who occupied it, a domaine of character.

Its impressive, majestic bastide, though it was enlarged and reshaped over the course of the centuries, remains unassuming and welcoming. Its windows afford an exceptional view of vineyards, olive trees backed by a forest, and in the background the Massif of Sainte Baume and the Sainte Victoire Mountain. A formal garden and time-honored chapel are also part of the property, which longs to welcome new visitors. 

The domaine covers more than 12,000 acres between Tavernes, Montmeyan, and Fox Amphoux, in the north of the Coteaux Varois en Provence terroir. The estate includes 1,300 acres of vines, 200 of olive trees, and 9,000 of forest. The vineyards benefit from optimal sunshine, fantastic soil, and a well-drained landscape.

Situated at a height of 1,600 feet, the domaine enjoys fresh, cool nights and warm, clear days. This temperature contrast allows the grapes to reach their perfect maturity, guaranteeing the balance and aromas of our wines. The nighttime coolness brings the grapes to maturity slowly, allowing them to develop finer aromas and giving the wines a good acidity with guaranteed freshness and stability.
